Why do we love math? It’s pretty simple: children who develop a positive attitude towards math in their early years are more likely to see math as a valuable and enjoyable subject, which can lead to greater success in mathematics later on!  Early confidence in math plays a significant role in a child’s growth mindset, which is the ability to persevere through challenges and overcome obstacles. 

Little minds are constantly gathering information as they play, and one of the best ways to learn is through play in motion! We easily think of activities that involve physical movement – from jumping, swinging on the monkey bars, pushing a toy car, or balancing in a yoga position, but bodies in motion is only one small part of the play-in-motion concept!

Manipulatives come in so many different shapes and sizes and offer up a fantastic range of learning opportunities for early childhood development. Maria Cantillana shares her experience with one of our favorite sets, the Geo Block Build! Her kids amazed us all as they used a typical manipulative set to not only work through some fundamental skills, but instinctively engaged in open-ended play-based creativity and fun!

Younger children learn best through play! It’s easy to forget that although it may seem simplistic and unchallenging, the benefits received are unbelievable. Play relieves stress, improves brain function, increases creativity, boosts cooperation and social skills, and more!
